fol. 9r: a rectangular-box illumination (with Laura and Petrarch sitting in a garden with Cupid standing between them and throwing an arrow towards Laura), below which is the title (‘Francisci Petrarcae poetae flore[entini] rhithmi vulgares’) and RVF 1;

Interlinear annotations (mainly at fols. 9r-22r, corresponding to RVF 1-30) by a similar humanistic hand either explain the meaning of single words of the poems, or provide some contextual information about either the situation or the action described.
In the upper part of fol. 9r is a rectangular-box illumination (with Laura and Petrarch sitting in a garden with Cupid standing between them and throwing an arrow towards Laura); in the lower part of the same fol. is a cardinal’s hat above a coat of arms; in the upper part of fols. 149r, 162r, 166r, 176r, and 184r, is a rectangular-box illumination representing the relative Triumphus that begins on that fol.; historiated initial in gold for RVF 1 (fol. 9r); decorated initials in gold for all other RVF poems, the beginning of each Triumphus (including Triumphus Eternitatis) and each subsequent capitolo; at fols. 9r, 149r, 162r, 166r, 176r, and 184r is an architectural frame.
