Notes

Occasional marginal annotations by a different hand either provide basic paraphrase of the poems (e.g., ‘Cesare poy ch[e]l falso traditore’ close to RVF 102.1), or note a particular passage.

At the top of fol. IIr, a later hand wrote ‘Rime di m[esser] Francesco Petrarca’; at the recto of the second unnumbered fol. after fol. 164, a line by a later hand (‘edi lei gl’occhi, fien caggion ch’io uizio’); at the bottom of fol. 209r, four lines by a later hand (<inc> et que che fa ma[—]me[—]i faro fumal; <exp> loblivio gli aspecli [sic] obscuria acri’).

Decorated initials in gold for RVF 1 (fol. 1r) and Triumphus Amoris I (fol. 165r).
