Notes
Rinieri provides a philosophically informed lecture that originates from – but does not closely follow – the lines of the sonnet. Among the topics covered in the lecture are: God’s immanence in the things; and the three degrees of virtue. Rinieri provides numerous quotations from Dante’s Commedia and mostly relies on Platonic and Neo-platonic theories. In the lecture, Rinieri often praises the Accademia degli Intronati.
The first quire is constituted by a sequence of printed and handwritten fols. of Rinieri’s Il vero suggetto d’Amore, accompanied by a few marginal and interlinear corrections.
