Notes
In his Vita di Francesco Petrarca, Lelio offers an extended biographical account that includes many excerpts from Petrarch’s Latin and vernacular works. Many passages from RVF are referenced in order to clarify obscure meanings and provide further information about the poet’s life and love for Laura. Lelio himself clarifies his intentions in the incipit (quoted in the internal description) of the ms. For Antonio Lelio as the author of the Vita di Francesco Petrarca, see Frasso 1988.
Fols. 1-20 have been damaged presumably by damp; as a result some areas of text block (especially at the bottom of the fols.) are missing.
