Notes

This is the ms. that Aldus Manutius used to prepare his editions of Le cose volgari di messer Francesco Petrarcha (1501) and Le terze rime di Dante (1502).

Marginal and interlinear annotations (by Bembo) provide orthographical corrections and variant readings of the poems.

Bembo copied RVF poems in the following order: RVF 1-229, 264-294, 230-263, and 295-366. Before the beginning of the section RVF 295-366, he wrote a note (at fol. 113v) to indicate that the quire beginning with RVF 264 (and containing RVF 265-294) was to be inserted here.

Some quires of volume II are missing and the remaining ones were bound in the wrong order (and this has affected the presentation of Dante’s work).
