RVF 104 is printed at fol. A3v. After an initial digression on the concepts of fame and glory, the first lecture provides a word-by-word exposition of the sonnet and offers information on its addresse (Pandolfo), as well as numerous references to classical poets (Virgil, Cicero, Horace, Ovid and Tibullus). RVF 145 is printed at fol. C1r. The second and third lectures tend to depart from Petrarch’s sonnet and provide lengthy geographical and astronomical digressions. Other authors quoted include Latin poets (Catullus, Virgil, Horace, Ovid), Dante, and contemporary authors (Lodovico Martelli, Benedetto Varchi).
Other Petrarchan texts quoted include: Triumphus Fame I.22-26 (B2v); RVF 119 (B4v); Triumphus Temporis 143-145 (B5v); Triumphus Temporis 16-18 (D1v); RVF 191 (D7v); RVF 339 (D8r); RVF 270 (D8r); RVF 203 (E1r-E1v); RVF 228 (E1v); RVF 107 (E1v); and RVF 50 (G4v).
