Notes

In the Rome, Biblioteca nazionale centrale copy, only the first quire (fols. A1-A8) is present. This Roman copy seems to be the only surviving one of Turchi’s commentary.

A few marginal annotations (by a cursive late-sixteenth- or seventeenth-century hand) either write the name of the author of the commentary (fol. A1), or correct the text (e.g., fol. A2v), or else add either a few missing words (e.g., fol. A3v) or some lines (i.e. a Virgilian passage that Petrarch might have quoted in his sonnet, passage which was not mentioned among the ‘Imitationi’ in the printed pages [e.g., fol. A7v]).
