In the fols. containg the RVF sonnets, the first line of each canzone is written by the same hand after or next to the end of the sonnet that precedes it in order to signal the canzone’s position in the book of rhymes. In those fols. containing RVF canzoni, a similar technique is used: each canzone is preceded by a note by the same hand indicating the first line of the sonnet that comes before the relative canzone within RVF.
In the index of the canzoni of RVF (fol. 8r), reference is made to three canzoni beginning with the letter ‘V’ (i.e. RVF 29, 119, and 366), even though these poems have not been copied out. Furthermore, RVF 325 is left unfinished (the last line copied is the first half of l. 90).
Decorated initial in gold for RVF 1 (fol. 10r) and decorated initial for RVF 23 (fol. 93r); at fol. 10r is an architectural frame.
