Notes

Occasional marginal Latin annotations next to some RVF poems in the same hand that transcribed the text. These notes make reference to moments in the poet’s life (fol. 85r) and provide ethnographical remarks (e.g. at fol. 84r, next to RVF 207: ‘Jn Egypto area Nilum sint homines qui solum florim odore vuiunt. Et in oriente sint qui visu solis faciantus. ut ait Olimus et solinus’). In this ms., RVF 264 is placed after RVF 266 as the first poem of the second part of the RVF.
 
Large decorated initial in gold for RVF 1 (fol. 1r); each subsequent initial throughout the RVF is alternatively decorated in gold and in pen. The text of Petrarch’s note on Laura is written with golden letters.
 
The copyist has been identified as Michele Salvatico by De la Mare (1985b, 352).
